How to bulletproof yourself from the negativity of the world?

With the world gone dismal with Quarantine, it is obvious that the best of us would endure some level of anxiety, stress and distraction. Thanks to the overdose of melancholic news and the solemn uncertainty hanging in the air, it sure befits its purpose of deflating our hope and optimism for a bright future. But who said leaders were built when life was roses and peaches?

 If you have recently found yourself feeling overwhelmed or distressed, then hold on tight, grab a cup of coffee and scroll down, this could be the caramel drizzle to your macchiato, the peanut butter to your jelly sandwich or ice to your fiery soul.

 Here’s just what to do when your environment weighs you down even when you try your best.

“If you desire healing,
 let yourself fall ill
 let yourself fall ill.”

                                  ― Rumi

1)    Allow yourself time and space to feel what you need to feel. If the vampire energy of your environment has massively affected your mood, your physical body and your sanity then by all means get back to becoming human being rather than human doing. It is in the being that we allow the revolution of self-love and appreciation to flow in and work its magic on our deepest core. Instead of your mind which forces you to look outside for solutions and strategies, let your spirit guide you and take you to its realms and depths. By listening to the whispers of your soul, you allow your fears to be released and healing and love to flow in. Constantly trying to do something about it may not necessarily give you the results you seek.

Create positive space around you, even if it's in your mind. You must have an environment of good energy in order to give that.

 2) If you can’t choose the people or environment around you then create one.

Not all of us have the luxury of cutting out all negativity from our environment. Yes, we can choose to not see the news or we can choose to not engage in another neighborhood gossip but from time to time we may have to face situations or people where negativity and drama just drags us down. In that situation, I would encourage you to do your best to create a positive space in your mind. Surround yourself with books, podcasts, positive motivational videos or any content that uplifts you, empowers you, fuels your drive and ambition and ultimately helps bring your light out in the world. Reap the benefits of technology and feed your brain with positive content, fire up your soul by reading about inspirational leaders and make friends with those who push you to become a better version of you.

“The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say 'no’ to almost everything.”

- Warren Buffett

3) So much of our life is about what we don’t do rather than what we do.

Have a clear vision of your life. Know what you want and then make decisions from that place. Indulge in the power of “No”. Assess your situation and see how a person or situation is making you ‘feel’ (with a capital F). Let it be your lead and win the day.

If you win the morning, you win the day.

-Tim Ferris

 4) To get different results you must be willing to become a different person.

Create a powerful morning ritual. Instill the habits of A-game players and world revolutionaries. Choosing to take charge of your emotions, thoughts, feelings and mind right in the beginning of the day sets a powerful tone. It sends a signal to your brain that you are ready and you control the game. Align with the power of your subconscious mind right when you wake up. Breathe, be still and meditate. Be wholly present in the moment and then visualize happy and loving moments of future. Send happy chemicals to your brain via happy thoughts. Don’t just think them but feel them while changing the entire state of your body. Continuing this practice will amp up your performance and productivity like a champion. It will bring you golden benefits like sustained balance, perception, intuition, imagination, organization of thoughts, higher persistence, higher patience and faster achievement of your goals.

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.

- Mahatma Gandhi

5) Finally, be a leader, forgive and lead with compassion.

Choosing to forgive those who have hurt you and choosing to lead with compassion are the attributes of the bold and the courageous and that of the world leaders. The world is dependent on those who choose to shine regardless of their circumstances, who forge ahead in the direction of their dreams in the middle of storms and wild fires and who choose to look at the light and the flickering rainbow when darkness consumes their world. Those may sound like big, glorious words but you don’t have to be a Mahatma Gandhi or Martin Luther King to change your life. Being human is qualification enough.

 “We can lift ourselves out of ignorance, we can find ourselves as creatures of excellence and intelligence and skill. We can be free. We can learn to fly”

-Richard Bach
